Under general direction from Senior Scientists and the Team Leader, applies physics theories, high-voltage power supply principles, and practices to develop pulsed-neutron generator for nuclear logging measurements in oil and gas wells. Duties will include:


  1. Optimize pulsed-neutron generator using computer modeling and experimentation
  2. Work with engineers to implement the design
    1. Specify detailed plans for laboratory measurements (to be acquired by technicians)
    2. Analyze laboratory and computer-modeling data to devise the required algorithms
  3. Document work
  4. Make internal presentations describing results, conclusions, and recommendations
  5. Communicate well with colleagues and managers
  6. Work in a safe manner and comply with all Halliburton HSE requirements

Job Roles

  • Lead the research and development of innovative pulsed-neutron generators including high-voltage power supply and neutron tubes
  • Provide leadership to the team/discipline, setting high expectations for behaviors consistent with our Code of Business Conduct, HSE and SQ objectives and for execution of projects and other activities
  • Lead identification of technical opportunity areas through research and networking with universities, national labs and external companies
  • Develop budgets and forecasts for his/her area of responsibility and manages expenditures accordingly
  • Lead the team to maximize our Intellectual Property position through active patent filing, participation in freedom-to-operate assessments and competitive surveillance
  • Lead initiatives to drive innovative thinking and IP capture in areas including product technology, service delivery, modeling, interpretation, simulation, and manufacturing technology
  • Promptly and effectively deal with compliance and other performance issues in a manner consistent with company policies and practices

Desired Skills and Experience

  • M.S. degree in Plasma physics or equivalent
  • Advanced degree strongly preferred
  • Solid knowledge of plasma physics
  • Familiarity with high-voltage power supply design theory and operation
  • Experienced with data analysis
  • Experimental experience
  • Programming skills in a standard language (e.g. Python)
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Excellent communicator
  • US Citizen or Green Card holder
