Customer Support Operations, Irvine College Graduate – Engineer, Req 11941 POSITION SUMMARY Researches, analyzes, designs, and tests component parts, processes, or systems to develop new and/or improve core products. Develops and recommends solutions for technical project assignments using fundamental principles of mechanical, electrical, packaging, or other engineering disciplines. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Work in Customer Support Engineering department located in Irvine, CA and/or Ogden, UT with focus on supporting Parker CSD products to improve product reliability and technical answers/solutions to customers. 2. Frequent customer interface to present system project status and gain confidence in overall support of customer program 3. Work closely with internal and external customers and reliability team to monitor system performance and look for product trends that may affect system performance 4. Develop goals, objectives, and time line to complete with success customer support engineering projects related to systems by helping to conduct engineering investigations, analyzing shop findings, identifying possible product improvements, preparing and reviewing presentations, customer requirements and impacts, and consulting other more experienced engineers and management 5. Help the development of systems and component-level training for system familiarization by maintenance personnel, including fault diagnostics, to assist in troubleshooting and isolation of faults and also reduce unscheduled removals of hardware 6. Availability to travel to support customer world wide 7. Availability to answer customer phone calls 24 x 7 8. Work assignments may include cross‐functional or project team responsibilities. Contributes and supports other teams or individuals as needed QUALIFICATIONS • GPA must be equal to or greater than 3.0. • Working knowledge of Word, Power Point and Excel; excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong collaborator. • Bachelor degree (BS) (or Professional Engineer (PE) certificate) in an engineering or science technical discipline. Professional entry level position. May have limited prior industry experience or have worked with direction in student internship programs. • Fundamental knowledge of engineering domain principles, concepts, and techniques. • General knowledge of industry products, customers, and related legal/regulatory requirements. • Fundamental knowledge of and use of basic engineering design and analysis tools (e.g. computer‐aided design programs). Learns and utilizes specialized engineering databases; may require programming skills. • Develops familiarity with products and customer specifications and standards applicable to assigned product line or system. • Ability to communicate status of technical tasks and actions taken with clarity and precision. • Ability to work with general direction and instruction regarding the scope of assignments; determines the priority and order of assignments; and applies judgment in selecting procedures and techniques. • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals and reports. Ability to present findings and information in both formal meetings and informally within and across Parker teams.
